Findhorn Foundation Trust
Overview
Founded: 03 May 1972
Scottish charity number: SC007233
Findhorn Foundation Trust was formed in 1972 to support the growing community that is known as Park Ecovillage. Over the decades the organisation grew to have global impact in a wide range of activities that included spirituality, environmentalism, community living, art, music and education.
In 2023, because of the impact of Covid, fires at the Ecovillage that destroyed the Sanctuary and Community Centre, as well as the impact of Brexit on foreign students attending the campus, the Trustees of the Findhorn Foundation Trust made the decision to wind down the Trust, pass on many of the assets in the Ecovillage to community organisations and transfer the education mission to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) that will be focused on the spiritual education mission previously held by the Trust.
Association with the United Nations
In 1997 the Findhorn Foundation Trust, as a non-governmental organisation (NGO), became formally associated with the Department of Public Information (now known as the Department of Global Communications (DGC) at the United Nations. Read more about the Trust’s association with the United Nations.
