Would you like to spend the quiet time of the year with us? There are many ways to stay at the Ecovillage Findhorn Community this winter: workshops, daily events, festivities and quiet retreats by yourself or with family and friends. Find out what would serve you bestβ¦
A beautifully quiet sunrise at Findhorn Beach last week after the full moon.
Winter is my favourite season here at Findhorn. From Autumn Equinox until Spring Equinox I personally feel at my happiest here: the air is crisp and fresh, the winds can be invigorating or asleep, the sea changes from fierce waves to mirror-calm, geese honk their way over the village towards the bay, the song of the seals carries on the air, the nights are drawing in, sunrises and sunsets seem to be never ending on the surprisingly plenty sunny days we get here in winterβ¦
Now is the time when our community starts to draw inwards whilst finding wonderful ways of coming together to celebrate this special season over the darkest months of the yearβ¦
The Winter Solstice Spiral in the Universal Hall
We thought it would be lovely to invite you to join us and let you know all the things that are happening during the quieter season and how you can stay in the way that suits you best. You might like to experience this time held within a group and explore together, come for a quiet retreat by yourself, experience the community and all its events over the festive season and beyond with your family and friends⦠There are so many options for being here during this magical time of the year.
And if you have any questions, please get in touch and Kate will be happy to help you at: connect@findhorn.org
Group experiences: our winter programme
Over winter we are offering several workshops and we still have places for When weβre 64: A Living Story during our Community Birthday Week this November and for the Experience Week: From I to We in December which will give you an insight into Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
Come and join the Ecovillage Findhornβs 64th Birthday Celebrations
This last Experience Week of the year will also allow you to extend your stay in the community for the Winter Solstice Celebrations, Christmas and Barbara Swetinaβs Crossing the Threshold over the New Year.
Traditionally many community events will take place during the festive season as we celebrate the rebirth of the light: the Winter Gathering, the Solstice Spiral in the Universal Hall, shared Christmas festivities, New Yearβs celebrations to see the year out together, before it starts afresh with the icy polar bear swim at Findhorn Beach.

Daily & weekly community events
Even if you are not joining a workshop and come by yourself or with family and friends there is a lot to experience here over the winter months: morning meditation in the Light of Findhorn Sanctuary, TaizΓ© singing, kirtan evenings, pottery, yoga and dance classes, the sauna and the hot tub, events in the Universal Hall, walks through the dunes and along the bay, outings into the surrounding area, and community gatherings. Itβs a good place to be if you want to rest, recharge and get inspired by the community and the wild nature around us.
