Spirit of Iona: Autumn Equinox

Date: 18/09/2022
Time: 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM BST See your local time
Event Category:

In session four of the Spirit of Iona series we focus on the wisdom of the Druids with Katherine Collis and John Matthews.

We would love you to join us in a celebration and exploration of the deeper aspects of the Autumn Equinox

Facilitated by Katherine Collis, with guest speaker John Matthews, we will begin our Autumn Equinox celebration with a simple ritual and a time of reflection.

Katherine will create a sacred space for you to explore how your inner life aligns with the seasonal cycles and the sacred within the land where you live, wherever you are in the world.

We will continue to build community together through sharing insights and experiences with one another as we pause to reflect, dream, journal and deepen into the spirit of peace, prayer and pilgrimage – further discovering our lives as a blessing within the whole.

We are very fortunate to welcome John Matthews as our next Spirit of Iona guest. John has been described as ‘Oxford’s answer to all things mythic’ and he is one of the foremost experts on Celtic Wisdom Traditions.

“Although they left no writings of their own, the Druids have had a profound impact on modern culture. Largely forgotten by a Christianized Europe, this ancient Celtic priestly caste has reemerged as avatars of eco-friendly spirituality, potent symbols of what many feel is missing in a rational and industrialized world.”

John Mathews

About John Matthews

John Matthews has been a professional, independent scholar since 1980. His list of publications total over 100, including The Celtic Shaman, Secrets of the Druids, Taliesin, and for young readers, Pirates which was a number one New York Times best seller translated into 18 languages.

John has made a lifetime study of the legends of King Arthur and the oracular, bardic traditions and teachings of the Druids. He has more recently acted as an advisor on several big budget movies, including King Arthur, Pirates of the Caribbean and Prince of Persia. John along with his wife Caitlin, a scholar and author in her own right, together have co-authored numerous books – from their earliest works, The Western Way, retitled Walkers Between the Worlds, to creating an Encyclopedia of Celtic Wisdom.

John and Caitlin are Findhorn Fellows who align their work with the knowledge they have gained from the Druids and the spirituality of these early ancestors. They offer not only a wealth of insight into the historical knowledge of Celtic heritage, western esoteric teachings and Gnostic spirituality but are wise teachers, imparting practices for deepening into the fullness of our own human gifts and nature. We are glad to announce that Caitlin will be presenting later in our series.
