Embracing Change

Start Date: 28/08/2023
End Date: 02/09/2023
Event Category:

Lean into the wisdom of your body and discover how to embrace change from a place of emotional, mental and physical equilibrium and strength in this 5-day Open Floor dance workshop with seasoned conscious movement practitioner, Deborah Lewin.

About

These past few years have shown us that change is inevitable, and the need to adapt in a resourced way is an essential life skill. The challenges of life can easily weigh us down – both the small challenges of everyday life and the large challenges facing our planet. With so much feeling out of our control, it is important for us to come together and find pathways of empowered action that help to alleviate the sense of helplessness.

Who the workshop is for

This workshop is open to all aged 18+ and for those who have an appreciation or curiosity for the inherent wisdom found in our somatic intelligence.

What you will learn
  • Participants will develop a greater sensitivity towards recognising and responding to the information their body communicates to them in a supportive non-judgemental environment.
  • With space to validate your resistance to change and the feelings that accompany it, you will learn to be more accepting of ‘what is’.
  • A higher degree of embodied emotional intelligence may also surface in relation to how you feel about both personal and collective changes that are occurring.
  • A developed capacity to listen and to speak, both verbally and non-verbally.
  • How to stay grounded and centred in the midst of change; whether it is your own, someone else’s, or the planets’.

Departures

Check out is 9am on Saturday 2nd September.

Cluny Hill is located on the hill above Forres in the county of Moray in north-east Scotland.

Our closest town is Forres (0.7 miles miles/1.1km), which has good bus and rail links. The nearest airports are Inverness (24 miles/38km) and Aberdeen (71 miles/114km).

We recommend taking a taxi (about a 5-minute drive from Forres train station), as there’s no direct bus route.

Alternatively it is 1.4 miles/2.2 km (about 30 minutes on foot) from the station. Head for the High Street, then up St Leonard’s Road (B9010), and then left up Edgehill Road.

If you use a wheelchair or have any other mobility difficulties please let us know when you book. Cluny Hill is a multi-storey building with access to the upper levels via a staircase only.

If you have specific requirements please contact Bookings before you book to ensure we can meet your needs. Please also include details with your booking form.

‘It felt for me like I was at a magical place, the atmosphere of the Findhorn community, the closeness of the group. I felt carried by the other dancers in the group and the guidance of Deborah and you. I could slowly unfold myself in a safe space and gain access to the fragile places inside of me. Opening for something new.’

– Juliana Barrett – Findhorn Embracing Change August 2015
