Hailing from Carrbridge, Rachel Sermanni is a recent addition to the folk scene, but has already toured with a number of well-known folk and indie artists such as Mumford and Sons, Rumer and Elvis Costello. Influenced by musicians such as Eva Cassidy, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, she was showcased at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow and The Herald, chose her as one of their stars of 2012 — the year she also released her first album, Under Mountains. For this, her first visit to the Universal Hall, Rachel will be joined by Jennifer Austin on the piano and Colin Macleod on the guitar. Her new album Live in Dawson City is released in October 2014. Support will be from Miss Irenie Rose – a young singer-songwriter from the Isle of Lewis whose voice has drawn comparisons to those of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.
