Doug Scott CBE

Friday 28th Oct 2011

Mountaineering legend, Doug Scott, has reached the summit of 40 peaks. Along with his climb up the South West Face of Everest with Dougal Haston during Chris Bonington’s Expedition of 1975, he has reached the highest peaks on all seven continents and was made a CBE in 1994. In this new lecture, he tells of his adventures on the world’s most extreme rock faces, including the dramatic tale of survival on the Ogre in Pakistan where he broke both legs after a fall. He will also talk about Community Action Nepal (CAN), a charity which gives back to the local mountain people. Doug will be joined at this lecture by Gelong Karma Jiga, a Buddhist monk. Together they have worked to raise funds for CAN and funds from this years tour will also support Nilupul Foundation, a Scottish charity promoting wellbeing in the community.
