Silent Retreat – on Iona

Silent Retreat – on Iona

Sat 4 April 2020 (7 Days)
Lindsay Fovargue, supported by Marja Kuijer

When you are looking to spending a week long in silence, together with a group of people, this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
It is on a remote ancient island on the west coast of Scotland. Where only inhabitants are permitted to bring a car to the island with its one single track long road.
An ideal place when you like to retreat, to walk and explore nature and to just be still.

Whether you want to contemplate and/or meditate Easter, longing for some silence or are writing a book.

Iona Spiritual RetreatsOur retreat house Traigh Bhan on Iona is a beautiful place for a silent retreat. The house is situated on the quieter part of the island (North) directly at the beach. It has a large porch with an amazing view on the island of Mull where you can spend hours, just enjoying the view. Or just be still and contemplate. With only with the sound of the wind, the waves landing on the beach, and sheep everywhere, the occasional bull and many birds in the sky. Sometimes even dolphins visit the waters around Iona.
Traigh Bhan has its own sanctuary that is available day and night.

The schedule of the week is planned as follows:
First there will be the opportunity to arrive and land in the house, meeting with the other people in the group.

Group time is planned at the beginning and at the end of the week.
The cosy and warm kitchen is set up to prepare breakfast and lunch yourself at the time that suits you. We will create a rota for preparing the dinners. Dinners will be eating together, also in silence.

We start each day with an (optional) meditation. Linking in with sister community Erraid, Findhorn, Glastonbury and all the Light Centres over the world.

There will be plenty of time to sleep, meditate, read, walk, explore, swim, listen, reflect or to just be.

Daily there will be a set time with the opportunity to check in with Lindsay and Marja. This is not mandatory, only if you wish or need. It can be that things surface and it can be helpful to ventilate and/or to just have a listening ear.

Come and join us if you like and listen to the sound of Silence…

Supported Price reflects a partial bursary toward the cost of your workshop and is intended for those with minor financial need.
