Silent Retreat – on Iona

Silent Retreat – on Iona

Sat 4 April 2020 (7 Days)
Lindsay Fovargue and Marja Kuijer

Are you longing for a week of silence within a supportive communal environment on a stunningly beautiful and powerful ancient island?

Whether you want to contemplate and/or meditate on Easter, spend quiet time in nature, write a book, or are simply longing for some silence and stillness, our Silent Retreat on the magical Scottish island of Iona offers you the spaciousness to be.

Only permanent residents are permitted to bring a car to the island with its one long, single track road, making it an ideal place for retreat, walking, exploring Nature, or simply being still.

Iona Spiritual RetreatsTraigh Bhan, the Findhorn Foundation’s retreat house, is a beautiful place for a silent retreat. Built on a power point, the house is situated on the northern, quieter part of the island right on the beach. The house has its own peaceful sanctuary for prayer and meditation.

Comfortable and well-equipped, Traigh Bhan has a spacious and large porch with a stunning view on the island of Mull. Here you can spend hours enjoying the view, or just be still and contemplate. With only with the sound of the wind, the waves landing on the beach, sheep grazing, the occasional bull and many birds in the sky. Sometimes even dolphins visit the waters around Iona.

The schedule of the week is planned as follows:
On the Saturday the group arrives and we all take time to fully land in the house. You will be introduced to the other participants and settle into your room (shared accommodation).

Group time is planned at the beginning and end of the week.

The cosy kitchen is fully stocked for you to prepare breakfast and lunch at a time that suits you. We will take turns to prepare dinner, which will be eaten together – also in silence.

We start each day with an (optional) meditation, when we will ink in with sister communities Erraid, Findhorn Foundation, Glastonbury and all the Light Centres across the world.

There will be plenty of time to sleep, meditate, read, walk, explore, swim, listen, reflect or just be.

Daily there will be a set time with the opportunity to check in with Lindsay and Marja. This is not mandatory, only if you feel the need to do so. It may be that issues or emotions surface and it can be helpful to have a listening ear.

Come and join us in the sound of silence…

We believe that the benefits of holistic learning should be available to everyone regardless of their financial or life situation, and that the transformational journey is enriched by a diversity of participants.

We recognise that what is affordable for some can be a financial stretch for others and offer a tiered pricing structure. When you book, please select the price that feels appropriate for you.

Supported Price reflects a partial bursary toward the cost of your workshop and is intended for those with minor financial need.

Thank you.
