Harmony with the earth’s cycles and the forces of nature is essential, since disconnection and disharmony with nature create disease.
We really came here to be caretakers of the earth. We are people with a forgotten mission.Sandra Ingerman, shamanic teacher and author
As many of us have come to live fast-paced lives we have become more and more disconnected from nature and from ourselves. By slowing down and taking retreat-like time close to nature we have an opportunity to listen deeply to the voices of the earth and to enter into alignment with the powers of the universe, remembering that we are part of a collective energy field and fostering health and harmony in ourselves and our environment. We can rediscover nature as a spiritual path.
In shamanism nature is a helping spirit, a teacher and a spiritual ally, a deep source of inspiration and transformation. Poets have called nature a sanctuary of the soul.
This week will focus on an experiential exploration of the elements. Earth, water, air and fire are seen as living beings within the web of life in many shamanic traditions, moving within and around us, shaping the universe – and open to working in partnership with the human realm.
Exploring the energies of the elements and establishing a relationship with them will help us gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and invite us to listen to a deep calling of our souls. The questions that will guide our journey of encountering nature as a spiritual path:
Learning to see nature as a spiritual path is a journey, and in this week we will learn skills and practices that will help us in our travels. We will do merging practices to explore the energy of the elements from within through all our senses, explore the elements through dance, song and poetry, go on shamanic journeys to receive guidance and healing, merge with the elements to experience the energy with all our senses, spend time in silence and nature, listening deeply and learn to work in partnership with the elements to transmute negativity and pollution in the inner and the outer world. The overall intention is to realign with and celebrate these great cosmic forces, opening our lives to their blessings and creating balance and harmony within and without.
The week will leave you with a variety of simple tools that allow you to bring into your everyday home environment the healing, upliftment, inspiration and deeper sense of purpose that nature, as a spiritual path, gives you.
