Horses have evolved a high energetic sensitivity to keep themselves safe. This makes them extraordinarily accurate ‘mirrors’ of internal processes: emotional charge, intention, contradiction. They transmit through the herd, and are amazing ‘amplifiers’ of the energies they perceive… thus humans attending to resonance can do so more easily.
Equines are acutely attuned to whether we are present in our body. They respond to us more fully when our mind, body and spirit are connected. In this they naturally challenge us to connect these parts of ourselves, and to be here in this present moment: to become more potent and more alive.
This horse changed my life… He did not judge me, unless I judged him.
The approach involves no riding, and includes both safety tips and natural horsemanship. Pam is a horse specialist, Lindsay is an experienced psychotherapist/supervisor and a breath coach. You require no prior experience – only for allergies and the like to be reported.
You will start with a focus on embodied awareness; then learn to observe the horses – their energy bubbles and natural responses. You will track somatic process in yourself, in order to guide you in following unfolding internal process.
Interaction between humans and equine(s) can be still, playful, gentle or dynamic. You will have an opportunity for one-to-one work with a horse (and two focalisers supporting). This can be deeply moving and transformative. As participant you may hold a particular question or focus, or none – the ‘work’ finds its own direction, through respectful, mindful interaction with the equines. It is deeply soulful, heart-opening work, which touches those watching as well as those participating. There are often many tears and a great sense of connection and joy. The horses often bring peace and calm .
Throughout the workshop we will introduce physical and energy-based practices (such as meditations, mindfulness practices, movement, artwork) to support a deepening of connection, and assimilation of experiences.
A very well planned and effective course. The meditations and exercises were relaxing, calming and full of amazing insights. I feel as if I’ve been introduced to another world by that alone!
When you book this course please will you send us a short introductory letter telling us about yourself. Please write about your reasons for choosing this workshop. What has drawn you? What has your journey to this point been? Please write whatever you feel is relevant for us to know about you. Writing from the heart is more important than a ‘well-written’ piece. Something between half a page and two pages is probably about right. We would like to have a sense of you as you truly are. Thank you for your openness. The people who will read this are Pam, Lindsay and the Findhorn Foundation workshop organisers. Otherwise what you write is confidential, within the law and allowing for issues of safety.
Our quoted prices are fully inclusive of participation in the workshop or event, accommodation in our guest rooms (including towels and linen), all meals and refreshments, and full access to our community facilities like our meditation sanctuaries. Some facilities, like our saunas and hot tub, ask for a donation for use.
