This week will be an inspiring and reflective oasis that will support you in developing and/or deepening your meditative practice. This spiritual retreat, which comes out of John’s 20 year connection with the Findhorn Foundation’s unique lineage, is suitable for everyone, whether you are new to meditation or more experienced.
Approaching the week with a ‘beginners mind’, we will look at what meditation is, exploring different approaches that will include a number of gateways into meditation and ‘activities’ that can be undertaken while in the meditational space, so you can choose those you wish to explore further as you develop and strengthen your own meditation practice. We will also explore how to stay in the meditation zone, health benefits and possible challenges for meditators.

Situated on the west coast of Scotland, Iona is a sacred island known as a historic place of pilgrimage. Its unique presence and beauty has drawn spiritual seekers and mystics for centuries. Traigh Bhan is the Findhorn Foundation’s retreat house on this magical island.
Traigh Bhan offers the opportunity for quiet contemplation, while the island itself – with its views and spectacular coastal scenery – is ideal for long walks of exploration and contact with nature. Scotland’s western isles are famous for their beauty, and Iona is often considered to be the “pearl of the isles” with its white beaches, rolling hills and ancient bedrock. As a retreat setting, it refreshes and renews the spirit.
If you need time to integrate the lessons of a workshop or space to reflect on your own journey and next steps, Traigh Bhan is the perfect place for spiritual rest and renewal. Comfortable and well-equipped, the house has its own peaceful sanctuary for prayer and meditation. Our residential Foundation custodian can guide you in making the most of your time.

Before you book your place, please take a moment to consider that the Findhorn Foundation is a Charitable Trust. We believe that the benefits of holistic learning should be available to everyone regardless of their financial or life situation, and that the transformational journey is enriched by a diversity of participants.
We recognise that what is affordable for some can be a financial stretch for others and offer a tiered pricing structure. When you book, please select the price that feels appropriate for you.
Pay it Forward Price covers the cost of your workshop and includes a contribution to our bursary fund. This will make participation possible for one or more people who otherwise would not be able to join our transformational work in the world.
Sustainable Price covers the cost of your workshop and helps us to sustain our learning and guest facilities.
Supported Price reflects a partial bursary toward the cost of your workshop and is intended for those with minor financial need.
The cost of the workshop does not include transport to Iona. For Foundation bus information to Iona and to arrange transport, please contact our Transport Department:
Tel: +44 (0)1309 678020 or email: [email protected]
If you are making your own travel arrangements, please plan to be at Fionnphort on Mull in time to meet the retreat focaliser from the Findhorn Foundation bus. This is normally at 11:15, but please check with the focaliser. If you need to call Traigh Bhan (+44 (0)1681 700 383), to inform us what time you will arrive, please be aware that there is nobody at the house on Saturday between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm.
Please note: We recommend participation in an Experience Week before joining a retreat on Iona.
