How about having a rest in a beautiful place, on an island on the West coast of Scotland?
Leaving behind your daily living with its tasks, inevitable routines and difficulties? Taking some time out to rest, rejuvenate and being inspired by nature?
We are offering this amazing retreat on Iona in combination with expressing your natural impulse to create.
Our retreat house Traigh Bhan on the island of Iona is situated directly at the beach in the North part of the island.
The house has a spacious porch with a stunning view of the island of Mull. It also has its own sanctuary and is built on a power point. The energy is very tangible and the sanctuary is available 24/7.
It is a perfect place to relax, retreat, to feel inspired and to rejuvenate. To fully immerse yourself in island living without being distracted and no internet access. The house has a landline telephone (for emergencies).
The cosy kitchen is fully stocked where everyone can prepare their own breakfast and lunch. We will be taking turns in preparing the dinners during the week and enjoy eating the meal together.
On the Saturday we will be arriving and taking time to fully landing in the house. Getting to know the other participants and settling into your room (shared accommodation).
Gradually letting go of mainland activities and taking time and tuning in to your inner world. And when you are ready, to start to exploring the outer world.
Iona is famous for its special and famous energy and attracts thousands of people each year. Those visitors are mainly visiting the Abbey and are having a set time to spend before returning to the ferry and their buses. Therefore the majority of daily visitors don’t have the time to visit the northern part of the island. That makes this part of the island and the surrounding of the house very quiet and peaceful.
We start the week with a ritual and also end the week with a ritual on the Friday.
Every day starts with an (optional) meditation in the sanctuary, when we will link in with Erraid, the Findhorn Foundation and Glastonbury.
Throughout the week we aim to have a good balance and combination of group activities and individual time. A healthy balance between being active and time to rest/meditate.
Some of the creative activities will be in a group setting and some will be individual. Some will be outside and some inside. Acknowledging that we are at the West coast of Scotland and that the weather can be very changeable. We will try to be as flexible as possible.
During the ‘free’ times there is the choice to rest, meditate, sleep, read, swim, walk, explore or visit the abbey and/or the many craft shops that are available near the harbour.
There might even be the opportunity to visit St Columba’s Bay at the South side of the island.
For the creative part of the week we will be collecting different natural materials like stones, shells and seaweed. All of them are very abundantly present all over the island with it’s many different beaches.
Allowing ourselves be in awe and getting inspired by the many colours, shapes and endless different structures.
Giving ourselves permission to play and to be creative like making mandalas, mosaics and all other different pieces of art.
This week doesn’t require previous artistic experience. Just a willingness to be curious, playful and to have fun.
Allow yourself to be surprised!
Our quoted prices are fully inclusive of participation in the workshop or retreat, accommodation (maximum 6 guests) in shared rooms (including towels and linen) and vegetarian food for shared meals. Arrival time is midday Saturday, and departure time is the next Saturday morning.
