Rio+20 — A Tipping Point in Human Spirit

Travelling through Rio can be a nightmare. The People's Summit is in a beautiful setting, right by the ocean, with a lovely atmosphere. But the distance to the official conference at Rio Centre is excruciating — at least 1.5 hours. This set-up distances politicians from civil society — a sad situation in times when the collaboration between governments and civil society is so obviously a necessity for the implementation of change on the ground. Luckily, bridge builders from both sides venture out to visit and exchange. (read more…)

Rio+20 — From Macaco Tamerice of Damanhur

In the morning Kosha and I went with May East to a fishbowl in the Arena, one of the UN official places, where Kosha and May were part of the panel together with another GEN activist, John Croft, one of the Thirteen Grandmothers and local Transition Town and community activists. Ana Rhodes from the Findhorn Foundation was already there together with Daniel Wahl. It was a touching sharing and one of the themes popping up throughout the whole fishbowl was the sharing of a sense of despair. The awareness that we can only do our best, though we feel the urgency of this moment, is part of the process, but shall not take us away from the hope that we can make it. (read more…)

Rio+20 — The Time Is Now

I find myself needing to share another reflection and update with you all, after just taking part in another inspiring dialogue and round circle. This was a group of world educators who are meeting together to share and exchange ideas and methods of holistic education for sustainable awareness and holistic change. Rio+20 — The World We Want

Hello to you all from Rio + 20, this is Ana Rhodes reporting back for you. Saturday was my first day here and I went to the Gaia Home tent, here in Rio, to introduce the Findhorn Foundation and myself. I felt I was amongst fellow educators dedicated to our common values for worldwork. I look forward to continuing to hold the torch on behalf of the Foundation and its work in the world while I am here in Rio. (read more…)
