Findhorn Forgiveness Conference 2013 – Roger McGowen Message

Forgiveness! It is a thing that we all love to hear, especially if we are on the receiving end. It frees us from guilt and allows us to own our mistakes and face what we have buried under our hearts. It’s not so easy for many people to forgive. How can we ask mothers and fathers to forgive the murders of their children? How can we ask children to forgive those who were supposed to protect them but instead abused them? (read more…)

Findhorn Forgiveness Conference 2013 – Day Five

When I join the other participants in the Universal Hall this morning I’m welcomed by the beautiful harmonic tones of Georgian singing. Phillida follows with another one-woman-with-guitar performance, together with a chorus of a hundred or more voices as we belt out Love Can Build Bridge. The lyrics speak of building a bridge between people, but Phillida reminds us that love can build a bridge between all the parts of ourselves too. (read more…)

After some wonderful singing with Phillida to welcome us into the day’s proceedings, during which she surprises a few by leading a round of ‘Happy Birthday’ to fellow participants celebrating birthdays today, Robin introduces Marina Cantacuzino. Marina relates her journey founding The Forgiveness Project, a charity really about enquiry and exploration, and her work with offenders in prisons. She is joined by colleague and fellow explorer Camilla Carr who tells of her drive to stop the cycles of violence and vengeance after her kidnap experience in Chechnya. The insights they offer from their work is truly enlightening. (read more…)

Findhorn Forgiveness Conference 2013 – Day Two

Not strictly day two yet, still day one and the evening session with Phillida Anam-Aire. Phillida welcomes us into this time with her with the greeting “Good evening everybody who is here, and everybody who is not here, good evening.” Although she currently lives in Germany close to the Austrian border, Phillida hails from Ireland and it is soon evident to us that she carries the lore and magic of the place close to her as she mesmerises us through the evening. Findhorn Forgiveness Conference 2013 – Day One

It’s Saturday afternoon and the Universal Hall is quickly filling – with people and anticipation – for the opening session of the Findhorn Forgiveness Conference 2013. The general hubbub conversation drops as the tones of the bagpipes fill the hall and a Scottish piper enters to set a bright tone and start proceedings. Conference co-focalisers Robin Shohet and Ilsemarie Weber then welcome us all and, in time-honoured Findhorn tradition, they light a candle centrepiece and dedicate this event to world peace.
