Holistic Awareness and Astroshamanism

Holistic Awareness is based on the experience that all aspects of life are intimately related and part of the same whole. Holistic principles have existed since ancient times in the most varied cultures and contexts, including science, sociology, education, religion and medicine. According to an holistic perspective there is no separation and we can find our sense of purpose only if we acknowledge the wider reality in which we exist. This reality also includes what lies beyond our ordinary perception and can effectively deepen the awareness of who we truly are; our core self.

Astroshamanism is a holistic system of healing aimed at expanding awareness through the integration of shamanism with experiential astrology, energy work and contemporary developments in human consciousness. Its present form is the result of research done by Franco Santoro since 1976, and integrates teachings from many traditions and experience gained within the Findhorn Foundation. The basic intent of this work is to enable individuals and groups to establish connections with multidimensional sources of healing, releasing perceptions based on separation and moving towards harmony. Shamanism is the most ancient and widespread method of healing. In all parts of our planet throughout all ages we find evidence of shamanic practices. The distinctive feature of shamanism is the experience of expanded states of consciousness aimed at promoting knowledge and well-being. Central in shamanism is access to areas beyond our conditioned minds, where we can unveil deep aspects of our holistic nature and implement their resources in everyday life, for the benefit of ourselves and the environment.

Astrology is the oldest holistic language, which in our work we use experientially through feelings, visions, movement, sound and situations aimed at expanding awareness and supporting significant transformational processes. This involves relating with the zodiac signs as archetypal core energies experiencing them in our body, emotions, mind and spirit, retrieving and restoring their healing power.

Core Circle Dynamics: the circle has been used for ages to exemplify holistic awareness. It teaches that life is based on cycles and although these may differ, they stem from the same wholeness. In our courses we often use a circle based on 12 sectors. These sectors portray the entire range of potentials and possibilities which participants explore, retrieve and integrate. They are pathways of deep understanding about core dynamics in life, encompassing the highest and the lowest, teaching us how to express or transform them at their best.

Workshops: we cover a wide spectrum of modalities in our holistic workshops, including shamanism, energy work, dance, sound healing, nature-based spirituality, sacred sexuality, relationships, bodywork and holistic Christianity. We employ simple tools to provide transformation, clarity of intent and mastery of ones creative potential, adapting the work to each individual and group. Our workshops focus on areas of self-empowerment and well-being, identifying and promoting intentions and what truly motivates each participant, in an environment based on safety and mutual respect. This provides sound foundations for exploring deep dynamics, for healing blocks and restoring fragmented parts. Our work may involve experiencing expanded states of consciousness and our primary aim is their constructive and beneficial integration into everyday life. Most of our workshops are held at the Findhorn Foundation in Northern Scotland and Provordo Jesi in Italy, yet we are also open to hold outreach workshops and events in other parts of the world. Franco Santoro is an energy worker, shamanic facilitator, member of the Findhorn Foundation and the developer of astroshamanism.
