How to get to Findhorn

Location

The Findhorn Foundation is located in northeast Scotland on the Moray Firth coast. We have two campuses: The Park, adjacent to the village of Findhorn, and Cluny Hill College which is 5 miles away in the town of Forres (population 10,000). The city of Inverness is 26 miles away and Aberdeen is 75 miles away.

If you are traveling from anywhere in the UK there are excellent rail and coach connections to Forres. Flying is also an option, but although it is faster it is also more environmentally unsustainable. Please choose your method of travel with awareness.

Forres - The High Street is about a 10-minute walk (half mile, 1 km) from Cluny Hill College.

There are banks (cash dispensers taking most cards), a Post Office and a reasonable selection of shops, garages and restaurants.

There are trains from London to Inverness and Aberdeen, with connections to Forres.

Our buses meet two Saturday mid-morning trains, one from Inverness and one from Aberdeen, at Forres station. There is no need to make a reservation for our bus; this is a regular service happening every Saturday. You are welcome to use these buses when you are arriving or departing. If you are arriving at a different time, there are usually taxis at the station for the five-minute drive to Cluny Hill College or ten-minute drive to The Park. If you use the public bus, please ask the driver to stop for you at the Findhorn Foundation, not at the Findhorn village.

Bus & Coach
National Express +44 (0)8705 808080 operates express services from London (Victoria Coach Station), and Citilink +44 (0)8705 505050 from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness.

There are public and Foundation buses between Forres and The Park. Journey time: 15 minutes. If you use the public bus please ask the driver to stop for you at the Findhorn Foundation, not at the Findhorn village.
Road
Travelling from the south via Edinburgh or Glasgow join the A9 at Perth. Leave the A9 just north of Aviemore turning right onto the A95 towards Grantown-on-Spey. At Grantown follow the A939/A940 to Forres. For Cluny Hill College; from Forres High Street turn into Tolbooth Street, at the bottom of the road go straight across the roundabout into St Leonards Road, turning left at the sign for Cluny Hill College about ½ mile up the road. Keep left for the driveway to Cluny Hill College. For The Park, Findhorn; follow the A940 through Forres to the intersection with the A96 Inverness-Aberdeen road. Turn right onto the A96 and follow for 1 mile to the next roundabout, turning left onto the B9011 for Findhorn and follow the signs from there for Findhorn.

If driving from Inverness, follow the A96 to Aberdeen and Forres. Forres is approximately 25 miles from Inverness. For Cluny Hill College; turn right onto the B9011 at the first roundabout at the approach to Forres, and follow the road, crossing over a roundabout, into the High Street and then follow the directions above for Cluny Hill College. For The Park, Findhorn; from the A96 take the second roundabout for Forres, turning left onto the B9011 for Findhorn and follow the signs from there for Findhorn.

Aberdeen airport is about 75 miles from Findhorn and Inverness airport about 30 miles away by road.

From Aberdeen Airport - You can take the number 224 bus to Blackburn and then change to the number 10 bus which runs approximately hourly from 06:30h to 21:20h Mondays to Saturdays. (On Sundays this service only runs between 11:20h and 19:20h). The journey takes approximately two and a half hours to the bus stop in Forres High Street from where the following taxi companies can provide transport, either to The Park or Cluny Hill College:

From Inverness Airport - The JET 11 bus service operates up to every 30 minutes connecting Inverness Airport, Nairn, Forres and Elgin. From Inverness airport, take the Jet 11 to Forres and get off at the Forres, St Leonards Church stop. You will then need to hire a taxi from there to The Park or Cluny Hill College. If you are going to Inverness airport from Findhorn, take a taxi to Forres, Tolbooth and catch the Jet 11 bus from that stop. Click here to view the timetable.
