Findhorn Weddings

We have our own legally approved wedding celebrants at the Findhorn Foundation who, in addition to marrying people at the community, can marry people anywhere in Scotland. We have performed marriage ceremonies by lochs and rivers, on boats, on mountains, in lighthouses, on beaches, in hotels and castles and at couples' own homes. We have married people from all over the world who feel drawn to Scotland to have their ceremony, and have a desire to participate in the creation of this important event in their lives.

Expressing the Findhorn founding principle of deep inner listening, our celebrants help guide you to access your own source of wisdom to create wedding ceremonies that reflect your own belief systems and deepest values. We help you choose the right words to express your heartfelt love and committment to each other.

We have found that even if the thought of helping to create your ceremony seems daunting at first, with help, it actually becomes an enjoyable part of the wedding planning and gives a deep meaning to the ceremony for both you and your guests.

We begin the planning of the ceremony at least two months before the event, if possible. We have a beginning conversation either by phone or in person and this connection is continued by either email or phone as you need and want it to be during the creative process. The Foundation is a rich resource for ideas and information on different types of both traditional and contemporary ceremonies. It is also possible that if you are not a native English speaker you may be able to have the ceremony in your own language.

In addition to wedding ceremonies, our celebrants officiate at funerals, baby namings and partnership blessings.

For those who might be interested in having a ceremony at one of the Foundation's campuses, our Nature Sanctuary is ideal for small events. The building is built by hand from natural rock and has a grass and flower roof. The main room is circular and seats about 15 guests. Although the Foundation has no facilities for receptions there are nearby local restaurants and hotels that provide that facility.
