NATURE SANCTUARY AND GARDEN
This haven of peace, tucked away in Pineridge, was built
in 1986 using local stone and old whisky barrel staves
for the seats and window frames. The turf and wildflower
roof further blends it with the surrounding gardens.
It is used for morning Taizé singing and meditations.
PINERIDGE
This is the main residential area for Community
staff members at The Park. The Caravan Park was bought
by the Foundation in 1983 with the intention of gradually
replacing all the caravans with ecologically sound houses.
STRAW BALE SHED
Built during the Eco-Villages & Sustainable
Communities conference held at the Findhorn Foundation
in 1993. The building is made of straw bales and the
walls rendered with a mixture of earth and concrete,
and is used as storage space for gardening equipment.
THE FAMILY HOUSE
It was originally built in 1981 to serve the
needs of families and children in the Community. The
building is currently used as the office for the some
of the management team of the Foundation. At the time
it was built, it incorporated the latest available in
ecological design and materials. (Next door is the toddlers’
playhouse.)
THE STUDIOS
In 1970 Eileen was given a vision of four cedarwood
studios with homes opposite them. Soon afterwards seven
artists and crafts people joined the Community and built
the studios. They are now used for artwork, pottery,
weaving and offices. The 200 year old loom on which
the original Sunrise Panels were woven is still in the
weaving studio. One of the studios is the office for
Trees for Life, a conservation charity that has grown
out of the work of the Foundation and is now working
to regenerate the Caledonian Forest in Scotland.
