ECO VILLAGE
An ecovillage is a human settlement which is sustainable ecologically, economically, culturally, socially and spiritually. In 1993 Ecovillage Ltd was formed to buy the Field of Dreams and planning consent was obtained in 1998 for 44 houses. Thirteen houses have been completed and building continues on many others. Each house is individually designed but must adhere to strict ecological and energy efficiency standards. Many include solar panels and the use of locally sourced, renewable, non-toxic materials.

The Foundation was a founding member of the Global Ecovillage Network, an organisation that links ecovillages worldwide and in 1998 the Ecovillage Project was awarded Best Practice designation by the United Nations.
