BY THE SEAT OF YOUR PANTS

Saturday 19th May 2012

Edinburgh based Plutôt la Vie was founded in 2003 by Tim Licata and Ian Cameron with a desire to create imaginative, visually driven performances. Their new show By the Seat of Your Pants is a hilarious, slapstick venture into the world of three men and a chair! Nothing to be done and nothing to do. Fritz, Franz and Rudy sit and wait. Expectation! Hope! Boredom! Delight! Not to take things sitting down, they put their best feet forward to make the grade and avoid a kick in the pants. A fast, visual, funny show in a clown style for children aged 7+ and their families. Lasts 60 mins

"…sequence after sequence of inspired comedy… a torrent of creativity, and a profound playfulness… the kids are literally skipping with pleasure, as they run out of the theatre, yelling "Dad! We've had a great time!" Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman ****

INDIA ALBA

Saturday 30th Jun, 8:00 pm

India Alba represent a collaboration between two Indian and two Scottish musicians who combine Indian classical and Scottish traditional backgrounds to create a unique sound. Since their debut album Reels and Ragas, they have developed their music to reflect the broad common ground between their traditions. Many raga gats (themes), particularly those from the borders of the Himalayas, have close relatives in the melodies of the Scottish highlands and islands, and for both of them the drone sounds of the bagpipes or the tampura play an important part in the music. Recent performances have included the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, and the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. Featuring Ross Ainslie on pipes, whistles and cittern.
