SPECIAL EVENT
7–13 July 2012

Sacred/Circle Dance brings together traditional dances from around the world and contemporary choreographies. This year our special guests are:

  • Maria-Gabriele Wosien's Prayer and Celebration dances that express symbols in movement. Symbols connect different levels of reality, when put to music and rhythm, they have the power to dissolve all that has burdened the soul with time. See Maria-Gabriele's website.
  • Laura Shannon and Kostantis Kourmadias offering traditional Greek and Balkan ritual dances, with a focus on the symbols and healing energy contained within them. With live music from Kostantis and Laura. See Laura's website.
  • Barbara Swetina sharing The Prayer of the Heart in which our shared sincere intention opens us into the dimension of stillness within all movement and sound, and leaves a trail of beauty in our souls as well as in the world around us. See Barbara's website.

The dances range from joyful and fun to inward-looking and meditative and provide a channel for spiritual harmony and growth. Findhorn has been home to these dances for more than 30 years and we continue to share their transformational and healing power.

We dance in the beautiful Universal Hall, surrounded by a stunning natural landscape of dunes leading to the beach. In addition to the daily dance workshops there's the chance to participate in the Festival Choir with Kate O’Connell and Orchestra with Bill Henderson (bring an instrument!) and to provide music for the final night's community dance and celebration. No previous experience is necessary.

Dancing to live music is an important part of the Festival experience and evenings will feature Rory O’Connell and other musicians, with dances shared by Peter Vallance and our guests. Every year our Festival welcomes old friends and new faces who come to share with us the joy and delight of dancing together in community. We look forward to welcoming you.
