October 2009

Move from a place of knowing within you rather than as a result of adaptation to outer experience. Let go of your assumptions and need to control life's creative process.

It does not matter what spiritual path you are on, an ultimate sense of peace comes down to one question: Can you let go of the need to control your life, and trust there is a benevolent force guiding all that ever has, is, and will happen?

This basic trust is the soul's way of attuning to a fundamental law of reality. There is a deep rhythm that moves though all life that cannot be controlled by our will. When trust informs our experience, it allows our psyche to relax and our soul to be at peace with our situation.

We can rest in unquestioned confidence that the universe provides, that we have, and will receive, what we really need, and that life is workable. Often, in fact, far surpassing what we alone are capable of imagining.

When we have a lot of basic trust, we are courageous and take risks. We don't suppress our competencies. We engage in life wholeheartedly, doing what feels appropriate with the confidence that it will work out.

Without basic trust, we tend react to what arises in accordance with our conditioning, wanting our process to go one way or another. We cling to predetermined assumptions and outcomes. We become tense and contracted and do all we can to manipulate the circumstances to fit with our desires.

Here is a suggestion for changing the automatic internal response to external signals. When a traffic light turns yellow and there is a safe distance to stop before it turns red, what do you tend to do? Do you accelerate to 'make it through'? If so, this is a metaphor for what happens inside when your yellow worry light goes off — you accelerate; try harder, move faster, do more, all stress responses to your conditioning. Trust is the ability to stop and wait for the green light to signal the time to move forward again.
Why not, for the month of October, practice putting on the brakes when the light is yellow and taking that moment to pause and breathe in trust and the deeper rhythm of life while waiting for the green light to again signal you to go.

Increasing our trust and deepening inner relaxation, brings the possibility to live our lives with love, appreciation, and enjoyment in what the universe provides for us, with natural compassion and kindness for others and ourselves.

The Angel of Trust brings you the opportunity this month to deepen into the rhythm of life, increase your intuition, and align to universal breath. So that's it - trust or worry - you get to choose.

Warmly,
Kathy

P.S. If you worked with the Angel of Light during September, take a few moments to release it with your gratitude before welcoming the Angel of Trust into your life for the month of October.

Meditation Exercise

When outer conditions appear to be impossible, never give up. Never waver or let go. Go deep within. Become very still. Feel God’s limitless love surround and infill you. Feel God’s peace. Let God’s light illumine you from within, so that the without can be seen in a new light. Raise your consciousness up and up. Leave all that is negative behind, banish all sense of defeat. Simply know that in that raised state there is no such thing as defeat. Victory is assured. You can overcome all things and hold on in faith until you see everything working out in true perfection. - Eileen Caddy

Begin by finding a quiet spot and sitting comfortably, closing your eyes and allowing your body to relax . . . . . notice that there are sounds around you . . . . . just let them be there . . . . . move your attention to the sensations in your body . . . . . notice the feelings of pressure, temperature, discomfort, etc . . . . . if you need to adjust your posture to be comfortable, then do so . . . . . move your attention to your thoughts as they pass through your mind. . . . . past thoughts, future thoughts, fantasies and facts . . . . . just notice without judgment what your mind is thinking . . . . . now gently turn your attention to your breathing . . . . . notice that you are breathing in and breathing out, fresh air filling your being . . . . . bringing with it the quality of peace . . . . . allow your body and mind to relax . . . . .

Now imagine that each breath you take is filled with a light infused with love, the light of a universal oneness. See that light filling your whole body until you feel totally filled with this limitless love, illuminated from within. Spend some time resting in this feeling.

Now, before you come back to normal consciousness, reaffirm to yourself that everything is working out in true perfection. Allow your mind and body to sense what it feels like for this to be a reality, this deep sense of trust.

Bring yourself back into the present moment. As you go through your day, occasionally cultivate again that feeling of everything working out to perfection, rekindle your sense of trust.
